SedricAndCharlie
Am I the only one just learning about this? http://matthewsmith.elite-systems.co.uk/?p=158 I can't discern from the limited information given whether this is based on Matt's engine or not. I assume so, if it's really a 1985 creation. Also looks like that game that Matt was working on with Elite didn't happen EDIT: this is probably the wrong forum, if someone wants to move it over to the JSW subforum Edited March 25, 2017 by SedricAndCharlie Spider
jetsetdanny
I've been aware of the existence of the game ever since it was announced. I haven't tried to purchase it. It's always seemed like a commercial gimmick to me. I find it ridiculous that suddenly there was so much fuss about a game from 1985, when other games from that year have been known for a long time, including Richard Hallas's excellent "Join The Jet-Set!", and when there are so many other games made in later years which are certainly (I'm saying it even though I haven't played "Willy's Great Adventure") not worse than this game commercialised by Elite Systems. The author - Terry Lloyd - thinks "it Edited March 26, 2017 by jetsetdanny Spider
IRF
Also looks like that game that Matt was working on with Elite didn't happen No, it is not. According to the article to which you gave the link: IMPORTANT NOTE: Matthew Smith and Elite have previously announced that they are to co-operate in the development and publication of a new game. jetsetdanny
jetsetdanny
Yes, you're right, Ian. I thought SedricAndCharlie was saying, "Also it looks like that game that Matt was working on with Elite which didn't happen", but apparently I added the "which" in my head myself :o . IRF
Indeed, how would you know that it looked like [resembled] a game which you haven't seen (because it didn't happen!) :D Spider and jetsetdanny
Spider
I'm starting to wonder if its possible (I've not had chance to see this game however, so it may contain sections or code that mean this is not possible) to convert it so it can be used in a Spectrum emulator or a real machine... jetsetdanny
Two problems I see there: - *If* the game was originally created on the ZX Spectrum (like back in 1985 or something), it would be like re-converting something to the original platform from another one. I'm not saying it's a bad thing, but you probably wouldn't end up with the original, but a variant of it  . - Since it was (probably still is?) released as a commercial product, converting it to anything could mean encroaching upon the copyright and provoking the copyright's holders anger :o . eighteentee
I've dug around in the Android (the only version?) and there's a .z80 file in there which I was hopeful would simply be a case of drag and drop onto the PC and play. Alas no. This is a shame as playing this game on mobile is a nightmare and really needs keys to work well. I was hoping of finding a way of extracting the game from the .z80 file to try but not having any luck so far. Before anyone shouts, I'm not condoning piracy, I'm just interested in playing this game the way it was really meant to be played, ie on a proper keyboard! ? jetsetdanny
If the Z80 file is a separate file, why can't you copy and paste it or send somewhere? Spider
eighteentee
I have. I copied it to my desktop to try and get going in Fuse. It won Spider and jetsetdanny
