Doing the drop through the Security Guard gains no advantage. The Wine Cellar still needs to be completed. And can not be completed in reverse. So what exactly are the benefits of using a life to gain no advantage. jetsetdanny and Spider

However, I was talking in the context of having recently been exploring your game Manic Jet Set Willy, not with a view to completing the game, but just checking out all the individual rooms. It did help me to access Under the Drive in that context - after the Forgotten Abbey I had dropped down into Entrance to Hades out of curiosity, then after dropping through the new, empty room below that, I ended up at the top of Security Guard. Rather than go all the way round again, I used the shortcut of falling through one of the guards to resume my subterranean journey. Incidentally, is there an invisible item in the empty room above Rescue Esmerelda in MJSW? (Or possibly visible in theory, but you never see it because Willy collects it immediately upon entry in the one place above Esmerelda where the room can be entered?) Spider
I decided to build (well, modify) something for this... More for fun than anything else. The text file included in the .zip explains all (well, most of it) < FILE REMOVED > As it is now in the Downloads system , here .zip updated: 1. Slight change to readme text file, including the date and a couple of typo corrections 2. rzx playback added 3. A quick and simple loading screen added to game tape file (game code untouched) Edited August 19, 2023 by Spider See above 1/2/3 jetsetdanny
jetsetdanny
It's quite a cruel punishment for being inept enough to lose a life! 😉 Spider

Nightmare Room I made a bit more erm 'fun' without making it much harder. I've just updated the .zip above, I've not changed the game code at all, merely added a couple of other things. See my post above for the specifics. jetsetdanny
jetsetdanny
I have just added "Jet Set Willy: Key-Coded Lives Edition" to the list of Mini games on JSW Central. I have also created a separate page for it, including a screenshot gallery and my RZX walkthrough of the game (Andy's walkthrough was already included in the release package). Andy, please have a look at that page on JSW Central and let me know if everything sounds good, or if you would like to see some corrections. I also have a detailed question. Did you include the map of the game (I assume the PNG file can be called a map) with the original release (i.e. published it on 24th March) or in the modified ZIP file (i.e. published it on 25th March)? The question is related to the (newly-updated) Chronology section on JSW Central. Since you did not mention the map in the description of the changes made on 25th March, I assume it was there in the original release ZIP, but I just want to make sure this is correct, for the sake of accuracy of the information given in Chronology. Perhaps it would be good to create a separate download page in the Downloads section for this mini game? Spider

I cannot be 100% sure however I think (with a high degree of certainty as I no longer have the files saved) the original release was just the file and a text document and a map, and the 'next day thought' as such was the loading screen and the 'map' . I am sure I uploaded it to the Final Frontier or Central Cavern group(s) but I do not see it, I suspect if I did it would of been the 'revision' here. Spider
@jetsetdannyI've updated my post above after careful examination of the file and what I'd put into the post containing it. Initial release 24th March File Map Readme (with typo's) Next day "on second thoughts" release 25th March File (game code untouched) It is quite possible I'd compressed it here too but the actual content was the same) but loading screen added, which means the Basic loader would of been changed a little bit. Map (no change) Readme (with corrections) rzx playback jetsetdanny
jetsetdanny
Thanks for your replies, Andy, for creating a new category of "Mini Games" in the Downloads section and for adding JSW KCE there 👍. I wasn't quite sure what to call the game, because it didn't seem obvious from your posts. So I called it "Jet Set Willy: Key-Coded Lives Edition". taking the second part of the title from the loading screen. However, I now believe that you call it "JSW: KCE" or "Jet Set Willy: Key Code Edition", so I'll correct the info on JSW Central accordingly 🙂 . [EDIT some time later] OK, it's all done 🙂 .
