  1. Hello Gawp. I have asked about Mac editors previously, I do have a pc, but tend to use my macbook

more these for most things, so a Mac editor would be really good. In truth I have not looked that hard, it

may be that someone has compiled JSWED for Mac and it is currently on github or the like, have you had

    a good look for it?

    EDIT: this looks interesting?

No extra lives are awarded in JSW, so you would have to POKE a big number to the Remaining Lives variable to see what happens.

Hmm. Fair suggestion. But the sheer brilliant madness of what Duck has done seems like it ought to be done in a more fitting way. There must be some way. How about the degradation of the tune, could that be the seed? Just an idea.

  3. Right, I am going to say it, even if it's wrong - who is going to do this same experiment with JSW? 😉

Edit - I have loaded up the original JSW just to see what possibilities there are for this. But it doesn't look like there are any? I know the arrows etc in the original corrupt data, but wondering what could be done to purposefully corrupt it like Duck has done? Not sure it is possible really. The thoughts of creating platforms in some rooms seems good though.

  4. Sorry a bit late to this party. Thanks for the round up Danny and a belated Happy New Year to everyone on the

forums. I am for some reason listening to Christmas music as I type if that helps? 😉

For me personally there is so little free time that even downloading and playing a game to any kind of degree

is something of a luxury. Also, a lot of games as I have 'moaned' about before are so hard for me anyway I don't

get too far into them, and just have the time to spend getting good enough to progress on them. The originals

weren't like that and that is a big reason why I liked them, difficult to finish maybe, but not to play and make

    progress. Just my thoughts.

However I can only marvel at the efforts of the above, they are brilliant all of them, I have seen them if not

played them for any great period of time. Perhaps that is just modern life, easy come easy go ... pity if you

have sweat blood over something. Hopefully when I retire I can live out my old age finally playing all these

    games ...

  5. Just looked at your album on bandcamp Sendy. I like the title and music of The Lament of the Ever Advancing Wall of Doom, which is

a great 80s video game concept turned into a tune, it's really good fun!

That's a fun album cover too, not quite sure what to make of it? An 80s pic digitized?

It makes me think of a Synergy album cover - Games maybe? Not got it to hand to check.

I remain a massive c64 music fan, got all the Back in Times when they first appeared 20 odd years

ago, went to a few of the events, remember seeing Rob Hubbard performing live, weird to see someone

who was a musical God back in the hey day of the c64 sitting drinking a pint. A few of those musicians

sadly no longer with us. Fred Gray was another favourite, brilliant and a style of his own.

Thanks for posting anyway I really like it, and it is good to see people being creative in other

ways. You can do the official game music to JSW3 when MS gets around to writing it 😉

Apparently, the film will have its premiere on 26 May, 2023 at 6:15 PM at Warsaw's Pixel Heaven Fest 2023 event. Please see here (scroll down for English) and also here. The screening will be preceded by a conversation with Anthony & Nicola.

Warsaw is my home town, but I'm not there right now and unable to travel there for this event. What a pity! 😯

You should be guest of honour Danny!

Sorry @MtM, I don't have a Mac and I would need one to do this.

Ah, okay. I only have one, if I had a spare one I would gladly let you borrow it for the purpose.

Sorry if it is mentioned elsewhere, what is it written in?

  8. That is a vast post!

Does Andrew Broad still read these forums, he does not seem to have been around for a long time?

I downloaded Strangel from Danny's site Sendy, those colours are very strong, not the easiest colour scheme on the eye. However, different.

I am sure a new game would be great. Please make it easy to explore for people like me!

Thank you! 🙂 This happens in the Special Edition of "Willy's New Mansion". The in-game tune in "The Front Door" (60) changes in mid-room. It is "In the Hall of the Mountain King" (from "Manic Miner", also used in "Jet Set Willy II: The Final Frontier") when Willy is outside the house, and it turns to "If I Were a Rich Man" (from the original "JSW") as soon as he steps inside.

When creating "Willy's New Mansion", I wasn't yet able to code in-game tunes (I didn't realise how easy it is). If I had been, I would have probably coded two new tunes there. Still, the original tunes from "JSW" and "MM" are always great to hear 🙂 .

The last point Danny is a very important one I think, as aural memories can be incredibly powerful, we may take in most information that becomes memories by our eyes

typically, but those tunes, the moment you hear them they take you right into that world, a bit like the music from Jaws, they absolutely conjure up a feeling inside. I know that there is a theory that your sense of hearing is the last to go as you are dying, I can imagine drifting off with either one of these tunes in my ears, not a bad way to go, a bit like the end to the film Brazil, the daydream part, not the nightmarish part 😉

We look forward to hearing your thoughts on the meaning of life as channeled through the making of these games Danny, and Carl

if they have anything to say, I would like to hear it, they tell us something of the mind of the person who created them.
