Hervé AST
Hello the authors and the whole JSW community, Here's a progress report on the creation of my game "Welcome to Willy's Fun Park" (project number 6). I've created and tested 11 rooms (17%). The Final sequence is created. This game is complicated to create. I had quite a few problems with the 64z version of JSWED editor. Earth blocks turn into water blocks when I change their color. I have taken this problem into account and now I create the rooms taking this problem into account. Creating the rooms takes me a lot of time because I want to create new traps with a very developed decor in the theme of the Amusement Park. I'm starting to see the game appear and I'm rather reassured about what it's going to be like. Progress report on the creation of my two other projects: Project 7: Willy Saves Maria 64 [ - 64 rooms. I Changed the version to 64W - 128 rooms. The paper plan is finished. The file is created and the rooms are in order. Project 8: JSW in London 64W - 128 rooms The paper plan is finished. The file is created and the rooms are in order. 3 rooms are created (2%) I have a lot of ideas for this game ! Have a good week everyone ! See you soon Hervé Edited April 13 by Hervé AST jetsetdanny, Jet Set Willie, MtM and 1 other 1
Jet Set Willie
I thought Willy's Fun Park! is finished already, as you said "Welcome to...". 😄 Nice that you can still progress with that earth block problem. 🙂 Today I encountered one room´s "blank" sprites (JSWED version [)were turned to visible ones even I didn´t touch them! Luckily I could change them back to "blank" ones by just changing their animation and selecting the correct sprite once again. Could you please describe how this is different than the usual cell x starts to act like cell y when you change the cell x colour to same as the cell y colour? Do you mean earth cell colours are not the same as water block colours but still earth cell turns to water block?
Jet Set Willie
Thank you, Hervé! 🙂 I can read a part of your message, but I had to use a translator to read the rest. 🙂 I will paste the translator translated text here so any non-native french speaker can read your helpful answer, too. 🙂 Hello, Oh no, despite its name, the park is not open yet! Far from it. I must bring the Yeti here; it's going to take time... But I hope the park will open this summer. I didn't answer your question immediately because I wanted to make the answer as complete as possible so that it could help all authors. For this game, I'm using the 64z version of the JSWED editor. 2.3.1 It allows the earth block to be colored with any color. Great for an amusement park theme. I detected two problems. Since then, I've been adapting to move forward, but it takes me longer. 1st problem: the blocks of earth become blocks of water: With the 64z version, this "1" earth block can be coloured with all possibilities. A window allows you to choose the colours of this block of earth If I choose a color that is not already used for another block of water, fire or other, the block created will be a block with the pixels of the earth block "1", but turned into a block of water. So I can't use it as a block of earth, because Willy will be able to cross it. Second problem: change the color of the blocks If I change the color of a block in the room, this block transforms with the pixels of the Earth block "1". This is still the case. I will take the example of a finished piece "distorting mirrors" The earth block "B" is light blue and dark blue I will change it with an unused color with another block: pink and yellow Here is the result for my piece the pixels of the earth block "1" appear I do not replace the block of third time and rose « b » for which we are now in complete in my feet It´s not a problem for game creation, But it takes me time every time I have to change the color of a block. This must be done. I hope this was helpful. Have a good day everyone. Jet Set Willie
I haven´t actually used the version 64z, I have just made several tests in the past. It was a very interesting version, but I think there were some problems in it what would have made my game developing troublesome. So your answer was interesting to read. 🙂 Thank you! Hervé AST
Thank you for your help. I'm truly sorry I wrote my message in French. That wasn't my intention. I always try to write my message in English and then use a translator to check for spelling mistakes. However, in this case, I mistakenly posted the corrected version of my message... 🙃 Regarding the 64z version, I will no longer use it for my future projects. I must add, however, that the JSWED editor is perfect, despite these minor glitches, which are not critical. My next projects will be created in the 64w or 64[ Here's a progress report on the creation of my game "Welcome to Willy's Fun Park" (project number 6). I've created and tested 16 rooms (25% !!!). The Final sequence is created. I will focus on creating the title screen in the next few days. I've also made progress on project 8 : "Jet Set Willy in London" I'm working on several rooms at the same time, without having completed any more, but things are progressing well. See ou soon ! No problem at all. 🙂 Thank you for your progress report, too! 🙂 It´s hard to understand how you can be so fast with your developing! 😄 Perhaps you are using some Hogwarts´ time warp potion... Ooops! Didn´t mean to let everybody know that! I am sorry. 😄 Again thank you for letting me know the problems with the version z. If I will ever do another game after these two, I will probably not use the z, as even with the "normal versions", there have been enough times to sort out what color combinations will make the cells work in each room. The version y sounded good back in time, but while doing tests I had troubles with the three global cells. Perhaps I could sort it out, though. 🤔 jetsetdanny, Spider and Hervé AST 2
jetsetdanny
Thanks for your progress reports, Hervé! It's good to know you are progressing with your games 🙂 . I trust they will all be great fun to play and extremely valuable contributions to Willy's universe 🙂 . I will be happy to playtest them when time comes for it and make any contributions I can. In fact, I am currently drawing close to finishing work on another long-overdue JSW project (I can't reveal its exact nature right now, but it's about adding some finishing touches to someone else's game) and I should soon be ready to start work on the music for "The Temple" 🙂 . Do keep us updated on the progress of your projects! It's always a joy to know about it! 🙂
