The game is now definitively finished. I've translated it into English. The game will be tested by Daniel (Jet Set Danny) for a few weeks, like all my previous games. I know Daniel will be able to spot bugs and correct any potential English translation errors. I've had the privilege and a great pleasure of playtesting the game last week 🙂 . Without offering any specific spoilers at this point, I can say that in my opinion it is a beautiful game, very atmospheric (like all of Hervé's games), with nice graphics and many, many interesting room designs and challenges. It showcases a very good use of the various features of the JSW64 game engine, such as switches, the superjump, droplets, crumbling floors, etc. Some of the challenges really made me think, and there was one that I took a really long time and repeated efforts to solve... So I would strongly encourage everyone to have a go at "Welcome to Willy's Fun Park!" once it's released - I'm sure you will find it a very enjoyable experience! 🙂 On 6/30/2025 at 10:37 AM, Hervé AST said: The game will be tested by Daniel (Jet Set Danny) for a few weeks, like all my previous games. I promised myself I'd take a break before devoting myself to my other two projects (7 and 8). But it will be difficult to keep this promise, as I'm eager to move forward with these two new themes, which motivate me enormously... Well, I would say: if you do have inspiration and desire at the moment to work on those projects, go ahead and do so. There are times when inspiration runs low or other interests prevail or other circumstances make the creative process difficult, so it's good to use the right condition when they exist 🙂 . That's my feeling about it, at least 🙂 . Hervé AST, Spider and Jet Set Willie 1
Hervé AST
Hello to the whole community, I'm very happy to announce the imminent release of my new game "Welcome to Willy's Fun Park !". This should be for Saturday or the following days. Now's the big moment when the game becomes public and will be available to you. I hope you enjoy playing it. I'm especially happy to have started making games after 18 years of not making them. To have found a community of enthusiasts for this game. It's very motivating! But what impressed me most was reuniting with my friend Daniel after so long. Why "friend"? Because despite all these years of absence, I've the pleasant feeling that we still had the same way of discussing and working together on a project. I remind you that this was the case for my four previous games and also for the one coming out in September. At this level of improvement, I can say that this game was co-produced with Daniel. Game testing, addition of two new songs, modification of room title colors, correction of titles and translation of the game into English, Spanish, and Polish, creation of the title loading image, creation in TZX format, and technical improvements on points like the endgame sequence! And this work within a very short period of one month and during his holidays... I would like to thank him for it. The game will be released in four languages (English, Polish, French, and then Spanish a few days later) and in TAP and TXZ format. I look forward to hearing your thoughts on this game. See you soon. It's the same feeling for me, and I swear that I thought many times over the years how great it would be if you came back to the JSW scene. So your comeback is a dream come true for me, and I'm very happy that we can continue working together and that I can offer some small contributions to your excellent games 🙂 . I want to thank YOU for letting me playtest "Welcome to Willy's Fun Park!" and add some small enhancements to it. It was both an honour and a great pleasure for me, and I couldn't imagine a better use for my vacation time 😁. I look forward to working on my small - and I can't stress this word enough! - contribution to "The Temple" 🙂 . Jet Set Willie
Hi Hervé! At yesterday I finally tested your game. I can just admire, a LOT, the graphical detail and how it is designed. I managed to get to near the right edge of the second room few times with couple of plays. My rope hanging abilility is a bit "ropey". 😶😉 I will continue there when I have enough time. 🙂 Congratulations for the fantastic game! 🫡 jetsetdanny
Jet Set Willie
May I ask, are both the title screen and ingame musics made with Lemmy´s "Caveman way"? 🙂 I feel the ingame music is too long that it could be at least two channel Caveman music. No, the title-screen and in-game music weren’t made with Lemmy’s “Caveman way.” They were coded manually – first in ZX-Blockeditor, and later in JSWED (which makes inputting the values easier). The title-screen music is “Sobre las olas” (“Over the Waves”), a waltz by Juventino Rosas, and the in-game music is “Itsy Bitsy Teenie Weenie Yellow Polka Dot Bikini” by Paul Vance and Lee Pockriss, first performed by Brian Hyland. Both the title-screen and in-game tunes use three channels. The first and third channels both carry the melody, while the second channel plays the accompaniment. So all three channels are active, but two of them play the same line (the melody). I’m not sure if your post was suggesting changes to the music in Welcome to Willy’s Fun Park!. If so, the answer is no — there are no plans to alter it. I do intend to write a post explaining how to code music in the format used in JSW128/JSW64 games (to make the process easier for anyone interested). But this will have to wait until I finish coding the music for Hervé’s The Temple and have the time and energy to do it. I can’t give a firm date, but hopefully it will happen later this year. Jet Set Willie
Thank you for the answer. 🙂 You got me wrong, I wasn´t asking for any changes to the great music!😄 I was just asking if they were done with the "Caveman way" as I think the multi-channel ingame tune was too long to ever fit in if it was tried to be made the "Caveman way". 🙂 That long single channel tune might fit. 🙂 Not sure, though. Thank you in advance for intending to write a post about how to make the music using JSWED64/128 format! 🙂 I am not familiar with it at all. Not yet at least. 🙂 Yes, I am very interested to read about that, whenever you will write that in the future. 🫡 Edited August 19, 2025 by Jet Set Willie
