I recently stumbled across Langford Productions' account thanks to his Jetpac remake. He is incredibly talented, and I think his version is my favorite. Thanks for sharing the links; I've always wanted to play MM on PC (my emulator doesn't work).

There are various versions of MM for PC in existence. Some links (the list is probably not exhaustive):

Talking of enhancing Manic Miner... Around the year 2000 I started work on Manic Miner 3D. I made a lot of progress converting the levels into 3D but I eventually came to the conclusion that the game is better suited to 2D. That said, Blake Robinson made a version that first appeared in 2005, and has done many changes since then using Unreal engine. It's worth looking at to see what throwing modern graphics at something can achieve.

Ok, so if you stand still the conveyor takes you at its speed, or if you walk in the same direction you move at double speed (walking + conveyor), or if you walk in the opposite direction walking is halved/resistance. That makes sense.

The point is that you move automatically, that it pushes you. Not that you can't change direction. At least that's how it is in the current games.
Oh, and once you change direction, when you walk in the direction that pushes you, you can go faster.

Whoa! Yeah, well, I'd make them much more subtle than that. Just so there's some texture, but nothing vivid or distracting.

I know you weren't asking me, but I would definitely get rid of the background images. Or at least make them optional.

I was going to make an HD version with full colour graphics, background images, improved sound effects and MIDI music, smooth animation and 60fps but have the gameplay exactly as the original.
    What would you remove?

Probably VVVVVV for me. It has graphics just like JSW, the controls are almost identical, it's difficult and very fun.

Trullybug reacted to UncleWan in Does anyone know how I can play Manic Miner II for the Commodore Amiga?
There is a website called Lemon Amiga, which has a very complete collection of games. You can download an emulator, then download the game ROMs, and then play!😊
This web link goes directly to the Manic Miner Commodore Amiga version:https://www.lemonamiga.com/game/manic-miner
Additionally: I personally really dislike the Miner Willy series on the Amiga platform. I think they could have done a better port, but they messed it up (just my personal opinion).
