IRF
I've already put someone straight in the comments section, regarding the joke (in the room names of the two opening rooms). Spider

Done, with a link to this page 🙂 . Funnily enough, one of the comments on YouTube reads, "Love the Egyptian theme." Those of you who have access to Contributor Lounge may remember that I was commenting on the fact that "The Great Pyramid" usually refers to The Great Pyramid of Giza. I was expressing concern that someone may become interested in the game because of the title, and then be disappointed because the game is NOT about The Great Pyramid of Giza and does NOT really have any Egyptian theme. And now someone loves the Egyptian theme in the game! Apparently, I needn't have worried... 😄 Spider and IRF 1
jetsetdanny
Thanks to your comments, Ian, I have only now understood the joke in the names of the two opening rooms! 😮 It reminds me of a joke I heard a few years ago, after hundreds of thousands of Polish people moved to the UK. The joke is in Polish, but I'll relate it in English, explaining the final play on words. A recent Polish immigrant comes into a store in the UK. He is trying to buy something. He asks for "piłka" [in Polish "piłka" = "ball"]. He is explaining what he wants using gestures (showing the round shape, throwing, kicking, catching, etc.). Finally, the British salesperson catches on and says, "Oh, a ball!". The Polish guy confirms happily and says, "And now concentrate, please! What I need is piłka do metalu". [in Polish "piłka do metalu" = "hacksaw" 😄] Spider
Spider
@geoff, its a good review well deserved. 🙂 Top work. I do note the reviewer does have reviews of some other games here, three at least from a cursory search so I'll add the links (not watched them, could be good or bad!) to each relevant topic too. @jetsetdannyYour joke sort of reminds me of "Fork Handles" by The Two Ronnies. You may wish to check out a YouTube or similar video of this if you've not seen it. 😉 Back on topic: Once again, top work Geoff. Could not find a 'Pyramid' smilie quickly so I thought the 'triangle' one and a camel (desert/pyramids) would suffice: 🐫🔺 jetsetdanny
geoff
I'd still love to know if anyone has anything worthwhile to say about the older Pyramid which I uploaded... Spider and jetsetdanny 1
obo
Apologies if this isn't the right place to report this. I've noticed some minor creature collision issues in Willy does the Great Pyramid, where Willy will lose a life if he lingers for too long in certain rooms. The rooms I've seen it happen in are: "word association football": the green ball hits the centre of the stairs after about 54 seconds. "so much for aesthetics": the horizontal creature hits the eye after about around 2 minutes and 51 seconds. "Right at the bottom": the right-hand yellow creature touches the top red creature after about 4 minutes and 15 seconds. I only noticed it because playing the game in TileMap keeps all rooms visible for extended periods. Though there's nothing specific to the app that should cause this problem. The YouTube walkthrough only has Willy in the first room for 25 seconds and 15 seconds, which is shorter than needed to see it happen in the fastest case. jetsetdanny
jetsetdanny
Hello obo, Yes, this is something that has been known before. I believe Geoff Eddy, the games' author, was told about this during the playtesting stage, but chose not to change it. Personally, I'm not a fan of JSW rooms where there is a time limit imposed by guardians crashing against each other (I think it's inelegant), but some authors have chosen to apply it consciously. Andrew Broad did this, for example, in his game "Party Willy". There are several rooms with time limit there, imposed by guardian collisions: "The Funny Farm", "Where I Ends and II Begins", "Marilyn Mansion", Tulips in Amsterdam" and "Karina Habsudova Hangout". All of those time limits are recognised in the Readme (have a look here and search for the word "limit" if you're interested). IIRC, there is also such conscious design in one of the rooms of "Jet Set Mini", and I believe also in some other games - I don't remember the details right now. There are also games where I believe the time limits are accidental. This is the case in (at least) one of the rooms in Fabián Álvarez López (Adban de Corcy)'s "A Bulgarian Requiem" (I don't remember the room's name right now and cannot check it easily). While I don't particularly like these cases, they are not bugs at all if they were introduced consciously by the games' authors, and they are not critical bugs if they happened inadvertently - the games are still perfectly completable, only they impose on the player either the necessity to move fast in some rooms or actually leave and re-enter these rooms to be able to cope with the time limit. obo
