  1. indeed!, by the way, have you noticed when Willy's legs disappear when he's on the beach walking to the yacht? .. i'm guessing he's not got his sea legs yet :D
  2. yup that's it now i'm just looking for that elusive path to the final item...
  3. On my one it doesn't flash, it turns yellow at 30 min to go then red with 10 min left, only flashes when time is up
  4. Entrance to Hades and Tree Root ... 24 min to go in Willy's world which is about 5 min for the rest of us :P
  5. 2 items to go.... damn... this was trickier than i thought
  6. Well in all the 32 years of it's existence and having poked it to within an inch of it's life this jumping 'technique' is probably the one thing that never occurred to me .. probably explains why never completed it
  7. Cool, is there a download link so i can test it out?
  8. Reattached file, my bad, when i went to preview it it looked like there was 2 so i deleted 1 of them, thanks for the heads up on the Spin link by the way :)
  9. That's right, as i mentioned, it seems to be linked with any routine that would generate sound output or of course entering another room which changes the border colour anyway. I have virtually zero knowledge of assembly language or machine code at the mo but the skoolkit disassembly of the original version has provided a really good insight into what goes into the game programming wise so i am hoping to educate myself one day!
  10. As requested, here's my latest somewhat futile attempt at solving Willy's nightmare complete with border quirk, notice it happens in the Bathroom, Chapel and East Wall Base Using Spectaculator 8 as mentioned. Try walking to an item like the bathroom tap with the music off without jumping to it I have only got an old version of Spin from 2007, only plays for a second or two then stops working. Tried downloading a new version from WOS but they seem to have blocked access to their FTP servers for some reason ... or maybe it's just my dodgy browser Untitled3.rzx
  11. i'm using Spectaculator version 8, it seems to be linked with sound as it occurs with the in-game music turned off and changes back as soon as any noise is made ie losing a life or jumping so this would mean that you wouldn't see it if Willy is in mid air when collecting an item. If you want i can post an RZX so you can see what i'm going on about :)
  12. a few years back i had a go at completing the pre-production version with all but one of the official pokes and left the Attic bug in place just to see if it could be done, it does seem possible but you have to 'cheat' a bit by using one of Matthew's unintended easter eggs, i'll post an RZX in the speccy archive later if they're interested in looking at it
  13. During my early days playing this i used to think the Attic bug actually started in the kitchens because for me it always seemed to be the first room affected. Some kid at school came up with a theory in that, possibly on the count of them going missing from the kitchen the chefs were supposedly upset at being disturbed and would cause havoc all round the house by way of revenge... I reckon if Matthew Smith heard that one he would possibly have got away with it...
  14. Just downloaded this ... it's completely insane ... poor Willy has to get the job done before lunch time ... i can see why this still has not yet appeared in the RZX Archive .. yet although some loon will crack it eventually i'm sure noticed an odd quirk: The routine you use for the JSW2 style border flicker whenever an item is collected leaves the border at a different colour, when Willy jumps it reverts back to the original colour of the room, I guess it's nothing to get worked up about
  15. Liking this 2015 bugfix version ... but surprised you didn't go further and include the corrections to the fragmented conveyor belts but i guess it's not hard to chuck in a few pokes to fix them ourselves if we wanted to
  16. Thanks, one of my favourite ones is 36545,0, originally published before the Banyan tree cell was corrected or perhaps as an alternative, it has the somewhat bizarre effect on ceilings and floors; go to any place where there is no gap between Willy's head and the ceiling and jump. Willy gets sucked up through the ceiling or sinks through the floor depending on whether he's at the top or bottom half of the screen. Also try jumping in places with limited headroom just to really confuse matters. Probably best accompanied with the unlimited fall poke...
  17. There's a typo with the third poke for the keycode bypass, it should be 34482,135
  18. Admittedly it was a tough act to follow and the person in charge of making Willy's third adventure had his work cut out but personally i think Rowson did a great job. With faster and smoother animation, none of the bugs, all the original rooms included and, with the exception of a change in colour scheme here and there, almost identical to the original layout plus a plethora of additional rooms, a space ship and even the moon JSW 2 is surely far superior to the original and i spent considerably longer playing it for these reasons. But there's many who would disagree with me, Crash! Magazine only gave it a luke warm review scoring much lower than i expected. Perhaps ii's a nostalgia thing, perhaps it's a 'warts and all' thing with the original JSW being favoured for it's imperfections and odd quirks. Perhaps the attic bug helped in some small way to increase it's poularity with people playing it more to see what the fuss was about. Certainly when i first got my hands on a copy i hadn't heard of the gremlin in the attic and genuinely thought it was a forbidden room (the technicoloured caterpillar with a pacman head did seem a bit trippy but then 1984 was the era of breakdancing). But have i missed something else? Happy to discuss...
