If I have done my sums right there have been over.... Downloads since Lost Levels 2.0 came out, just wanted to say a big thanks to everyone for taking the time to do this I have also updated the Level Map; This has been sent to Speccy Screenshot Maps Any comments about the Game? What you like or dislike? Have you completed the new Levels or are you stuck? Hopefully everyone is enjoying the game. All the best, Byron P.S. Hi GPC, Many thanks for this video it is brilliant, I am enjoying your gameplay 🖕You are right I found it much harder than the original Manic Miner, every level is a puzzle and 1 pixel out of place and you are dead. You really persevered figuring out the timings and the route through the levels 😎 Well done ‼️ All the best, Byron

All Done ‼️🕹️ Tested all the way through in emulation and real hardware, everything working 🖕 When you start the game you can choose where you want to start; Going Left to the yellow teleport will take you to the original game. Right and up the ladder and across will take you to the 17 new levels. Either way you need to get past the level 1 Guardian to get to the teleporter. Each game has an ending screen; This will then transport you back to the Choose screen, but you need to complete both games to finish and get to And Finally. It is available in Downloads Enjoy it 😎 All the best, Byron

All Done !! (well playable 👍) Now a lot of refining the layouts, guardians and portals. Main thing is that the guardians can't pass over other items on the level. So "Cosmic Causeway", "Logo of the Year" and "The Final Conflict" had to be modified to avoid this but try and stay true to the original gameplay. Also updated the loading screen; Once all the levels have been checked over, test play everything, add everything to the documentation 😵💫 Then unless there are any objections release it into the Wild ‼️ All the best, Byron

A quick open question to the community. As this is a continuation to the original Lost Levels I'm thinking of this as the start screen; It will teleport you to either the original Lost Levels or WillyWood + Bonus Levels, the Guardians are from the first level of each game. As if you have already played the Lost Levels you might want to start with the new levels. Interested in any comments /feedback. All the Best, Byron

Nearly There, The bonus levels are slowly taking shape of the 20 there are only 7 new ones, here some working screens; Again a lot of tweaking to do, but fairly close.

The first locked level from the NDS "WillyWood" is all done, this is an addition 10 levels, just finished test playing it; There are now 20 bonus levels but only 7 are unique to the DS. Will update as these are done, hope to have it ready for download in September 👍

Now the 10 levels from WillyWood have been converted; They have been test played all the way through and any minor glitches corrected. The levels with a green border are about finished, the yellow minor changes and red mostly the graphics for the guardians. But they are all playable 👍 Next to finish the correction and move onto the 7 bonus levels 😁

So have now played the DS version all the way through and unlocked all the 20 bonus levels, this makes the conversion much easier as you can go to any of the new levels and check the flow, sprite positions traps, etc. Now working on Level 8 "I'll be back". A lot of tinkering but it is playable, just need to change the guardians. Only 2 more levels in WillyWood then the 7 bonus 😁 And Job done !!

Progress so far 👍 So the first 5 levels of "WillyWood" are basically done, in that they are playable, all the keys can be collected and you can exit to the next level. The next step is to refine all the Room Graphics, tyring to get them to give the same game play as the NDS within the limitations of a 128K Spectrum. The first level is pretty close; One major restriction is that the Spectrum play area is 2 rows shorter than the DS so with a level that uses the full screen a little careful tinkering is needed; So this is the 3rd level 18 rows high on the DS and now 16 rows high on the Spectrum. At the moment the guardians are just being used to check the gameplay. Next step is to take a colour sprite and convert it to monochrome; Then repeat for every frame of the animation. So a lot more to do but it is definitely getting there 😁 All the best, Byron

Thanks for the encouragement !! Just an update someone in the JSWMM community knows the programmer "flash" and is going to check with them to see if I can make the port available, they are confident that this will be OK. And So it Begins !! Using the "Central Cavern" as a template, sketch out the level against the DS original (luckily I have the level screen without the background); The Spectrum game screen is 16 x 32 while the DS is 18 x 32 so some alterations will need to be made. The next step is to change the Room Graphics to be as close as possible to the DS (luckily I have the sprite files as well). Then the Guardians, Death Objects, Keys and Exit. Test play the level in emulation and compare against the DS. Add next level and repeat !! Will keep you updated on the progress. Byron

This is just a quick update on the Lost Levels 128K, version 1.2 is out with the help of Daniel from JSW Central fixing the ending. When putting this together I went back to the Original DS version as originally I used low res screen grabs from the intro video. Now I have RetroPie and have a full DS emulator and the NDS ManicMinerLL ROM files, as you play through the Lost Levels it unlocks an additional 20 Bonus levels. Once you have completed the Lost Levels it unlocks a new game "WillyWood" with another 10 levels. Most of the Bonus Levels are either from the Original MM or the Sam Coupé port but there are some new ones. HORACE IN THE MYSTIC WOODS BLAGGER COULD SMELL A ‘RATT’ COSMIC CAUSEWAY LOGO OF THE YEAR THE FINAL CONFLICT IT'S CHRISTMAS, CHARLIE BROWN! JUMP FOR JOY Here some screen shots; From "WillyWood" they are all new and are based on popular films. “I’M A DRUNKARD” SAID RICK BRIGHT LIGHT, BRIGHT LIGHT HELLO GUYS, I’M MR PERKINS WE DON’T NEED ROADS! WE’VE SUCH SIGHTS TO SHOW YOU! HE SLIMED ME!! BLONDES ARE SCARCE ROUND HERE I’LL BE BACK I HAD A HUNCH! DO YOU KNOW HOW TO MADISON? Here some screen shots; So I would like to convert these 17 levels and add them to the Lost Levels 128K and just wanted some feedback to see who is interested. I am planning to update this post with additional screen shots and Level conversions. The only potential spanner in the works is that I have been unable to contact the DS game creator as I would like the OK to be able to put it out for Download. Firstly an apology Version 1.1 128K was made but never uploaded! I have it, I have played it but never let it out !! Must be getting old?? Anyway it corrected the conveyor direction in "Not Central Cavern" with thanks to StanVanman for pointing this out, So there is a version 1.2 available, this is a bug fix for the final screen "Up Up and Away" you can now restart the Game by pressing Shift+Space. Thanks to Daniel (jetsetdanny) at JSW Central for letting me know how to do this. When putting together the DS version I used some very low res screen grabs and screenshots of the gameplay. This was only for the "Lost Levels" I now have a DS emulator and have found the original ROM file, if you complete the 20 levels it unlocks additional levels "WillyWood" and "Bonus Stages" WillyWood is a films tribute with 10 levels; “I’M A DRUNKARD” SAID RICK BRIGHT LIGHT, BRIGHT LIGHT HELLO GUYS, I’M MR PERKINS WE DON’T NEED ROADS! WE’VE SUCH SIGHTS TO SHOW YOU! HE SLIMED ME!! BLONDES ARE SCARCE ROUND HERE I’LL BE BACK I HAD A HUNCH! DO YOU KNOW HOW TO MADISON? There are 20 Bonus Stages, so far 4 unlocked but 2 are duplicated of what has already be done in Deeper and Down. So there could be another 15 to 20 additional lost levels, should be able to reproduce the layout and sprites but not the backgrounds. I have contacted the website that has published the game asking for permission to port it to the Spectrum. If anyone in the community knows more about this game or who to contact please let me know. I thought that 150 downloads was impressive but now Deeper and Down has just made Downloads Completely amazed that it is doing so well, thanks to everyone that has given it a go Just now working on improving the music. All the best, B
