MauS
Hi all. I've been lurking anonymously for ages, but only decided to sign up recently. Due to a series of everts at the beginning of December, I found myself in need of a distraction. The distraction I chose was to write a JSW remake - specifically an updated version of JSW Online that worked nicely on modern platforms. I ended up looking an this forum and seeing more cool things to add, so it's grown into a bit of a monster catch-all project - which, given that I need the distractions, is not a bad thing. If you're interested, you can take a quick look here at a test video I made. It's not done yet, but I've been pottering around with it for the last couple of months. I'm not sure if I'll ever finish it or whether I'll end up having to abandon it for other reasons, but whatever happens I'll be open sourcing it when I'm done. UncleWan
Hello and welcome, Maus! Many people focus on the ZX Spectrum, but for me, I'm also interested in the modern versions 🙂 I can't access YouTube. So, unfortunately I don't know how your project is going. But I hope you can complete this remake!😄 MauS, Hervé AST and jetsetdanny
AukonDK
Very impressive! I say this as someone who as had a similar project in mind and tried starting it a few times over the last decade without much success (I did learn an awful lot however). What are you using to write it? I was doing mine in LÖVE and got myself lost down a few rabbit holes. One time I was trying to make a level editor in-game. Another I made a shader to simulate the colour-clash of the ZX Spectrum. Playlist of videos here. I look forward to seeing your progress! jetsetdanny and MauS

MauS
Hi all. Not sure if people are interested, but I'm getting close to the 1.0 release of this. I doubt it will ever be "finished", and I'll keep tinkering with it. As soon as it's ready for 1.0 release, I'll be open sourcing what's there. I've managed to incorporate most of the features of JSWO, plus a few extras too, including the old java version as a custom tileset. (It looks lovely, but it makes it more difficult to play, I think.) Here's a couple of videos and screenshots. MauS
I forgot to mention. Once it hits 1.0, downloads will be hosted at https://jetsetwilly.net/ (Turns out that the URL was available!) Hervé AST, AukonDK and jetsetdanny
AukonDK
The sheer amount of options in this is pretty overwhelming and kudos to your very thorough documentation! MauS
