  5. True. Spoke to a couple of people and hopefully there's a solution soon. You may recall when WOS had issues a few months ago I used my yellowspider domain to host a forum temporary, as that has expired I've redirected it to here so if anyone should remember and visit that URL they will be sent here.

  8. Its been down a day or so now due to db issues, oh well these things happen. I did fire a quick email earlier today to them, just saying its OK for use this forum if they wanted to as there's quite a few WOS'er's already here anyway as far as I know.

  11. Welcome Daniel :) Thank you for your kind comments, appreciated. I started this site (I had planned it for a year or two before) due to the occasional difficulty in finding JSW/MM specific resources and some sites not being available anymore, thankfully there's the WayBackMachine although not ideal. You're welcome to add a link to your site in the Site Links section, that's what its for so we can easily find other sites on the same subjects. A moderator will check/approve links after a short time (that forum is on mod queue simply to avoid off topic links etc) If you want you could add a link to this site on your 'Links' section too.

    Similar to the C16 version of Manic Miner in colours etc. Again there is no loading screen. Game takes about seven minutes to load. The mansion is quite restricted, for instance there is no Cold Store / Nightmare Room and the Kitchen goes to the Back Stariway and nothing more it seems. The East Wall appears similar too, East Wall base appears as high as you can go. Interestingly there appears to be no Toilet and no Maria, jumping onto the bed results in a loss of life, expected as not all objects were collected at that stage. Again, there's no in game tune and the title screen is just the name changing colours. There is however a 'Game Over' boot sequence. Onwards with a few pictures: Title Screen: In Game Screens:

    The C16 (tape) version. It takes about seven minutes to load. The following things were immediately noted: 1. There is no loading screen, just a screen showing you the keys, then the game loads. I guess this is the loading screen. 2. There is very little sound, a tiny noise when collecting an object or upon loss of life. 3. The colours are not too distant to the C64 version (although there are less of them) 4. There is no 'boot' game over message, upon loss of the last life the game just instantly restarts in the Central Cavern.     We are pleased to release a mildly updated Spectrum version of Manic Miner. 1. The new loading screen I put together here has been used. 2. The code was again assembled using a 'real' speedlock loader for both its intended use (on a real machine) and for tape loading fanatics too. This is not intended as any form of 'protection' it is simply to cut down loading time from approx 3m15s to 2m30s. :) Only the game code is loaded rather than an emulator 'built' one as that would load all the memory which is not needed. 3. The game code was based on the Software Projects release rather than the more common Bug-Byte one, the reason for this was simply as the Software Projects release was later so it made more sense to base it on the 'last' code as such. 4. The 'typewriter' cheat was removed. The Software Projects version was "typewriter" instead of "6031769" 5. To make the game a bit more initially friendly, Willy starts with seven lives instead of three however: 6. There is no bonus life awarded every 10,000 points any more. 7. Minor detail: The scrolling message was slowed down a fraction so its more readable. 8. Minor detail: The scrolling message was altered very slightly to correct a few concerns: In essence the changes are to capitalisation, spacing and the 'forgotten' pause keys. Although there's a fair few JSW related sites around the information is quite scattered and some sites are no longer with us needing a trip to the internetarchive to try to view them.   21. The Atari 400/800 Version, released by Tynesoft. This needs a bit more work at some point, I had a bit of trouble finding an emulator that would take a cassette image (all I had) I understand there's a "2007" version which is based on the Spectrum version however the screenshots seen below are the original. It does not play very well at all unfortunately. This could be an emulator issue (hence the need for a disk image of it really) so either an immunity cheat is required or a better emulator / image as the collision detection seems to be quite a way off. I've not really been a great fan of newsgroups in general, I've not looked at their setup I may take a gander at it now out of curiousity and compare it to others etc. The only issue I tend to have with 'hosted' things is the potential for loss of data and companies usual policies of not providing you with a backup (in most cases)

  24. If there is such a thing ? :unsure: What is the best way to 'assemble' screenshots ? I have currently: A large number of screenshot image and a rough 'block map' on a piece of A4 paper just showing how they link etc I thought I could just use a massive blank canvas size and then paste and move each image into its proper place, if I work on it reduced size it would be manageable, although I think I may of overlooked the obvious somehow. Any thoughts please ? :)
