JSW Central has just been updated significantly. Almost all parts of the website have undergone some changes. The highlights: - All games included in the main "List of Manic Miner and Jet Set Willy games for the ZX Spectrum" (or rather several lists which comprise it) now have their individual pages with info, download options and other links. Most of the newly-added pages are still work in progress in the sense that they do not have full screenshot galleries yet, and in some cases the info about the game given there is not complete (e.g. there is info about the total number of edited rooms, but there is no info about how many of them need to be visited to complete the game). - Games which were previously in the "Games of MM/JSW interest" section, in the "I. Games of special interest" subsection have now been moved to the main "List of Manic Miner and Jet Set Willy games for the ZX Spectrum", as a separate group called "MM and JSW games using other game engines". - Some games have been added to the "Games of MM/JSW interest" section and all of the games included there now have links to their respective pages on Spectrum Computing. - Some new links have been added to the Links page. - One new entry was added to the list of MM games ("A Manic Minor's 80's Christmas Shopping Trip") and some new entries were added to the "Versions of the original MM" and "Versions of the original JSW" sections ("Manic Miner: A ten-cavern challenge", "Jet Set Willy: The Mr Noseybonk Edition" and "Jet Set Willy 25-100"). - Chronology was updated to the point of going into the future (!) - having a mention of the celebration of JSW

I will try to publicise it before boarding the plane, by some messages I am going to post :).

After almost two and a half years had passed since the release of the Special Edition of "Willy's New Mansion" and no-one had submitted an RZX recording of it to the RZX Archive, I decided to submit one myself, showing the completion of the game, without loss of life, at 11.19 am in-game time. The recording is available on RZX Archive. The ZIP hosted there now contains both the recording of the Original Edition made by Robin Clive and my recording of the SE. Enjoy... and complete the game yourself! :)

Super Spectrum World - JSW remake incorporating lots of games
jetsetdanny replied to SteveSmith's topic in Remakes
I have added a link to Super Spectrum World to the Links page on JSW Central. In my offline copy for the time being, so it's not visible online yet, but it will be later today or tomorrow at the latest, after I've updated the site :). -
Dissatisfaction on whose part? If you mean us, definitely. If you mean the wider audience - in the sense of a game winning which has a serious flaw of being incompletable - I am not sure, given that the original JSW was (initially) incompletable, and yet we all consider it such a great game  .

I am not necessarily in favour of "Maria vs. Some Bastards" winning the compo (I'm not strongly opposed to it either), but if it did, it would certainly put the game in the limelight for a few days, which in turn should give some free advertisement to the 2019 Bug-Fixed Version :). Provided the info about the existence of this version reaches the wider audience...

I concur. I will have a look at the screenshots one day to see if I can spot what you mean, but it'll have to be after Manchester, because I am concentrating 100% now on updating JSW Central at the moment - I would like to bring it up to a certain "minimal acceptable level" ASAP :).

If a downloadable version was available, I would download it immediately. It -
Thanks for sharing this info, The Equalizer! No new JSW-related topic is spam around these parts... :)

Interesting!

Yes, I think you could do JSW in two minutes: load a game (e.g. the 2015 Bugfix Edition) into JSWED, convert it to JSW64 and tick the 'No Kamikaze' feature for each room :). This would leave you with a 128K file, of course.

There was a significant update of JSW Central on 3rd December 2018. I had worked hard to make it happen and I did mean to announce it later, but a whirlwind of real life activities prevented me from doing it. I would now like to mention it for the record, although I will probably not describe all of the changes as accurately as I would have done in early December. The main change was the launch of a new section: 'Versions and minor mods of the original Manic Miner'. Apart from its main page, it features 18 individual sub-pages for each discussed variant (in one case - variants, where a few very minor hacks are discussed together), with general info, info about the completability of the game (or lack thereof), download links and a screenshot gallery, illustrating new elements / differences from the original MM. Over 350 new screenshots related to this section were added to the site. There were also various other improvements, such as switching to HTTPS, the addition of individual pages for "Manic Miner: Back to the Mine" (by LiganTM, 2018) and "Manic Mixup" (by Ian Rushforth and Andy Ford, 2018) to the Manic Miner games section, the addition of information about "JSW 128 VK3" and "JSW 128 VL5" (both by Norman Sword, 2018) as well as "Thoroughly Modern Willy" (by Bob Fossil, 2018) to the "Games of MM and JSW interest" section, a Chronology update, etc. I am now going to move on and start adding individual pages for the JSW games listed on the main page of JSW Central.

Super Spectrum World - JSW remake incorporating lots of games

Great stuff, thanks for creating it and posting about it here! I can see references to a number of my favourite games there, that's very nice. :) I look forward to playing the game when time permits. Can it be completed (i.e. is there a definite ending)? -
Thanks, Ian! :)

Yes, impressive stuff, Ian! - thanks for this :).

Thanks, Ligan, it's very interesting and important info for anyone who wishes to play / investigate Craig Rothwell's version seriously :).

I have just changed the name of this topic from "Manic Miner" remake for the ZX Dev compo to the current one ("Manic Pietro"), as the game has already been gamma-released (its current version is 1.1.). The official page with download links is still here, and there is a topic on WoS about it too. I have recorded RZX walkthroughs of both sets of rooms and sent them off to Daren of the RZX Archive, and I hope he will make it available for download soon. Even though not using the original game engine, it is a great addition to the world of Miner Willy :D . Thanks to Andy for bringing it to my attention (in the Contributor Lounge) that the game has already been released! :)

Thanks to Norman Sword for leaving just one file attached to post #1 for the sake of clarity, and to Ian for reporting it! :)

Well done, Andy! :)

Well, thanks. For the sake of discussion B) , there are currently *two* files included at the end of POST #1 ("JSW VL5 demo.tap" and "JSW VL5 DEMO revision3b.tap"). So, going back to my original question, it's still not clear which *file* (singular) is the latest version  Speaking seriously, though, thanks for your reply and for these new game developments  .

Which file is it exactly? The JSW VL5 DEMO revision3b.tap file on page 1 of this thread, or something else?
