  1. Yes, I think you could do JSW in two minutes: load a game (e.g. the 2015 Bugfix Edition) into JSWED, convert it to JSW64 and tick the 'No Kamikaze' feature for each room :). This would leave you with a 128K file, of course.
  2. There was a significant update of JSW Central on 3rd December 2018. I had worked hard to make it happen and I did mean to announce it later, but a whirlwind of real life activities prevented me from doing it. I would now like to mention it for the record, although I will probably not describe all of the changes as accurately as I would have done in early December. The main change was the launch of a new section: 'Versions and minor mods of the original Manic Miner'. Apart from its main page, it features 18 individual sub-pages for each discussed variant (in one case - variants, where a few very minor hacks are discussed together), with general info, info about the completability of the game (or lack thereof), download links and a screenshot gallery, illustrating new elements / differences from the original MM. Over 350 new screenshots related to this section were added to the site. There were also various other improvements, such as switching to HTTPS, the addition of individual pages for "Manic Miner: Back to the Mine" (by LiganTM, 2018) and "Manic Mixup" (by Ian Rushforth and Andy Ford, 2018) to the Manic Miner games section, the addition of information about "JSW 128 VK3" and "JSW 128 VL5" (both by Norman Sword, 2018) as well as "Thoroughly Modern Willy" (by Bob Fossil, 2018) to the "Games of MM and JSW interest" section, a Chronology update, etc. I am now going to move on and start adding individual pages for the JSW games listed on the main page of JSW Central.
  3. Great stuff, thanks for creating it and posting about it here! I can see references to a number of my favourite games there, that's very nice. :) I look forward to playing the game when time permits. Can it be completed (i.e. is there a definite ending)?
  4. Yes, impressive stuff, Ian! - thanks for this :).

    Pc Version

Thanks, Ligan, it's very interesting and important info for anyone who wishes to play / investigate Craig Rothwell's version seriously :).
  6. I have just changed the name of this topic from "Manic Miner" remake for the ZX Dev compo to the current one ("Manic Pietro"), as the game has already been gamma-released (its current version is 1.1.). The official page with download links is still here, and there is a topic on WoS about it too. I have recorded RZX walkthroughs of both sets of rooms and sent them off to Daren of the RZX Archive, and I hope he will make it available for download soon. Even though not using the original game engine, it is a great addition to the world of Miner Willy :D . Thanks to Andy for bringing it to my attention (in the Contributor Lounge) that the game has already been released! :)
  7. Thanks to Norman Sword for leaving just one file attached to post #1 for the sake of clarity, and to Ian for reporting it! :)
  8. Well, thanks. For the sake of discussion B) , there are currently *two* files included at the end of POST #1 ("JSW VL5 demo.tap" and "JSW VL5 DEMO revision3b.tap"). So, going back to my original question, it's still not clear which *file* (singular) is the latest version  Speaking seriously, though, thanks for your reply and for these new game developments  .
  9. Which file is it exactly? The JSW VL5 DEMO revision3b.tap file on page 1 of this thread, or something else?
  10. I believe the code is identical to the original with the exception of some additional code located in the area where normally the graphics (room data) for "The Final Barrier" are (hence the corruption in Mark's file which I've fixed). I'm sure Norman Sword (or anyone else interested) will find it the new code easily enough if they want to. I will not be contacting Mark about Norman Sword's suggestion, because I have no reason to believe he is interested in continuing the project in any way.
  11. Thanks for your comment, Norman Sword! I did not create the code which causes the scrolling, I only finished up and "repacked" a project developed by Mark Woodmass (Woody). I had no ambition on improving his changes to the code, I only wanted to make the game completable (it was not due to a bug) and "more presentable" by adding things like the loading screen and custom BASIC loader. Mark told me in a PM last year that he did not object to his code being used by others. So if you wanted to create an improved version of "Manic Scroller" with improved scrolling, I believe you would be most welcome to do it :).
  12. Thanks a lot for creating and sharing these files and explaining what you've done with them, Norman Sword! :) They are extremely impressive in the sense of what you've been able to do with the code!
  13. Thanks, Andy, and a Very Happy Holiday Season to everyone here! :D
