  1. I recall running that machine in an emulator about 3 years ago and trying a few games, its possible if I found them I did try MM and/or JSW EDIT... Check this >
  2. Can you not position the lower ramp one block to the left or right to see if that works ? See 'Ballroom' vs 'To the Kitchens' to see how they are 'joined' horizontally. 🙂
  3. I concur. 🙂 I'd not 'kept score' on this, but I'm glad to see it. I think it did 🙂
  4. Your post was teleported into your own topic. 🙂
  5. I don't think there will be a ready made list as you said there was not. There is (afaik) at least one or two Amstrad remakes but they use the standard MM game apart from the first cavern or two being edited. Not sure if those would count.
  6. This I find is what can catch 'new to editing' people out. Unlike MM where it does not really effect it given the limitations on what is in each cavern in that game. Agree on a list of what/where, that is what I tend to do because otherwise it can get messy.
  7. Oh I know. 🙂 I just meant one of the 'random' modes, although it would be bad luck to encounter the 'Beam' early on in the game, possible but hopefully not that likely.
  8. That is to be fair a rare situation, I did experience this myself. But generally if the Solar Power is about the 4th or so cavern you enter, you'll probably be OK. There was a change (I think I've not double checked) with that cavern slightly between v2 and v3 as well.
  9. Yes you figured it out, you can see this ramp/conveyor effect in "The Chapel" , its the only ramp in the game that has that effect. If you set fire to be the same as earth or air you'll kill Willy upon entry. Setting other cells the same such as ramp and earth will have odd effects, which could be an advantage in some specially designed rooms. 🙂 I'm not sure on the crash, I rarely use arrows. You do need (I think, I stand to be corrected here) if you add any guardians after the arrow, you must remove the arrow and re-add it, it needs to be the last in the list, that being nothing else after it.
  10. I've never used the 'safe restart' places myself sorry. I think the idea is to place MW in a sane postiion in that screen rather than ontop a guardian or similar. You can't easily set a 'entering position' per room no 😞 A PV would not work and I'd not want to hexedit it in! , if it helps for the changes I make to the 'core' I just use either notepad+ to edit the disassembled code or ZXSpin to make live changes.
  11. Top work 🙂 Thank you. The extra new changes are appreciated.
  12. Try copy paste one room to another (one with guardians to copy from) Now switch to another room, not the one you just pasted, then switch back to the 'new' room. Are the guardians present in the list on the screen under the 'room' ? If so try deleting them. Take a backup first. 🙂
  13. Some of the changes you request are hardcoded in such as Eugene and Kong, with a simple conditional "are we on cavern x ? If so call this routine to do xyz" but as Ligan has said JSWED does allow some of these, I can't recall trying it myself as it was not too hard to tweak the code to do it, but the editor will do what you want I suspect and if not , I'm sure we can help, or try to!
  14. That would of been quite "wallet unfriendly" I think with 128K of RAM, not to mention any specialist chip for the video hardware!
  15. Yes I agree. Perhaps my use of the word professional was misunderstood. Its very possible and has been done to create many a good game with that editor alone. I think I meant someone who would start with a "blank sheet" as such, and have to write the core etc.
  16. JSWED does work in Windows just fine. Yes you can redesign the sprites but its a bit painful to do but it does work. The other 'editors' tend to be written in ZXBasic and are a bit crude or difficult to use. Professionals tend to write and use their own editors/builders per game as far as I'm aware. I know I would anyway, probably.
  17. I can't recall if there is any form of 'save' in that file at all, to save progress. I think not but memory fades a bit, its a long time but I can still see the "map" where you moved between each game.
  18. I'm beginning to wonder if it would actually run in a X64 environment with some suitable libraries, I'd have to research this.
  19. Thanks Danny. 🙂 Sadly given the way the game is , its not practical to do it as some kind of save snapshot as you progress, at least not without difficulty. I daresay such a tool would exist for MS-DOS however or failing that for Win9x (as it can run iirc in a full screen under that with appropriate libraries) Your comments on MM7 are interesting I had forgotten all about that I'm ashamed to say!
  20. Out of interest Danny, do you know if anyone actually completed the whole thing ? 🙂 ... I think many moons back I may of tried to make it easier by editing the snapshots for a few things but I can't recall. I'll have to dig out the inbuilt cheat.

    ChRiStMaS 2022!

10/10/84 (the date is permanently etched into my mind) I got my first Spectrum, a rubbery keyed model (all that was available then!) from the local Co-Op, using my own savings. Obviously Horizons was in the box along with an RF/Antenna/Aerial lead, a tape lead and a power supply with no mains plug as was quite normal back then... It came with this 'pack' too: Turned out that was standard fare for Co-Op at least, other stores varied a bit. It was a bit faulty actually and we had to return it a couple of times to get one that worked properly as in would load from tape as the first one was completely deaf, I do remember the first erm 'replacement' had a large dent next to the Enter key, indicating it was not actually 'new'. That went back. I seem to recall we tried it and found half the keys dead but the fact it was obviously 'a previous return' did not bode well One of the very first things I saw once we got a working one (a few days later!) was this... I remember the erm 'excitement' of it drawing the rainbow for the first time Naturally "through the wall" was one game I played a lot and it was if I recall one of the first programs I edited quite a lot once I'd figured out a few things. Incidentally through "hell and high water" etc etc , I have managed to retain probably about 60 or 70 percent of my original 'purchased back then' tapes...
  22. I'll have to have a detailed think about this, to provide a sane sensible idea or two. I'm hoping @jetsetdanny will also have some creativity ideas to assist, as well as others. 🙂
  23. Could you have the rubble slowly disappear perhaps ? As in say every 5 seconds have it drop one pixel row ? 🙂
