Jet Set Willy and Manic Miner "related" songs.
Jet Set Willie replied to Jet Set Willie's topic in Chat
Thank you, Norman! 🙂 It looks like this Banyan Tree cover has got "a bit" of "commercial touch" in it to make the song to sell better... doesn´t remind me about the original Banyan Tree scene a much anymore. 😄 Perhaps it has sold better, than the "original" cover idea with a still drunken male wearing a top hat, an old fashioned "jet set suit", and rubber boots..... the hangover has just started and he´s wandering under the big Banyan Tree at 7:00am collecting emptied bottles and glasses... who knows? Would anyone make a video game about such a scene either? By the way, one scene in that Los Straitjackets cover seems to advertise my soon coming game, too! 😉Actually there is more than just one scene from the same game, but I will keep my mouth shut for a while! 🤫 -
Is there a similar topic already? If there is, please move my topic there. 🙂 I think here at JSWMM there was a topic about how Eugene´s Lair Eugene got it´s name, so I thought to start a topic about song names somehow related to Jet Set Willy and Manic Miner and their clones and homebrews. The songs don´t have to be about these games at all, just the name could be "related" to JSWMM or clones or homebrews. Perhaps "related" to a room name of some JSWMM related game. Or the band name is somehow "related" to JSWMM genre. Let´s see what you can find out! 🙂 I did a very fast search. There´s a band name called "The Jet Set". 🙂 Here are few photos I found. A song about Willy when he was younger. A song "about" Memotech JSW clone, Son of Pete. "Join the Jet Set, or Die" 😄 Look at this! If this isn´t about the jet set life of Willy what is then? I think this photo is an advertisement of Jet Set Willy the movie! The guardians are human actors, but with strange guardian heads! 🙃A very strange movie indeed!

Maybe you could try to contact emulator developer or ask from Stardot.org.uk?

Do you mean font ? 🙂 There is a "Font" option in JSWED menu to change all the letters and other characters, at least in 128K version. These characters will appear on the bottom of the screen, in the status panel and in the title screen´s bottom message, both fixed and scrolling message. 🙂 Congratulations for your start! 🙂

Here are the Memotech clones 1980´s Manic Miner clone Miner Dick by Micro Power, for Memotech and Tatung Einstein http://primrosebank.net/computers/mtx/mtxsoftware_dl.htm Here´s a video of Tatung Einstein version 1980´s Manic Miner clone Pothole Pete by Continental Software, Megastar Games, (Spring?) 1984 The link below includes the original level sketches on paper! https://www.anvil-ict.co.uk/memotech/mtxsite/phpete.htm 1980´s Jet Set Willy clone, this game has lots more than "just" Jet Set Willy in it 🙂 Son of Pete by Megastar Games, 1984 Several screenshots here https://www.anvil-ict.co.uk/memotech/mtxsite/sopete.htm

By the way, please look at this screenshot closely! 😮 Is there a certain Week family member wearing a Yule time clothes, purple suit, as being hired for a short Yule time job? 😍

Thank you! 🙂 I´m glad you found new "pals" from my starters! 😉 Yes, making a new thread is a good idea so these games won´t be hidden inside this topic. 🙂 I added a bit more description to China Miner, as I forgot it. I also forgot to add a link to Devil´s Gallery. All/most C64 games have a download link under those links I had added. If not, there are other C64 sites to download them. 🙂 At least there were some MSX download links in the past, where to download these few MSX games. Caverns of Titan surely is a downloadable game, as it was made to an annual MSX game competition. I think I have seen some 1980´s clones for other systems in the past when I was actively looking for old games in the web, not sure, though. 🙄 I mean MM and JSW are such things that there "must be" versions for the other systems. I will list few ones later, as they came just to my mind. On the Amiga there are several homebrews, I didn´t include them yet as I thought most people here will probably know them. I will add them, too, later, unless others are faster than I. 😉

Thank you for your thoughts, made with excellent accuracy as always! 🙂 I understand your point, making very good pages for all of those clones and remakes will take time. But collaborating sounds like a good idea! 🙂 Even if this should never happen, I would like to bring here the games what I remember. Here are the Manic Miner remakes, clones and one Jet Set Willy clone. Manic Miner 64DX by Toki, 2019 https://csdb.dk/release/?id=185586 Manic Miner 2010 by Stefan Wessels, 2010 https://www.lemon64.com/game/manic-miner-2010 The Bear Essentials by Pondsoft, Graham Axten, 2016 https://www.pondsoft.uk/bear.html https://csdb.dk/release/?id=152319 The programmer has a Spectrum past... 🙂 I recommend to read his developing diary at Pondsoft. Caverns of Titan by JLTursan, 2005 https://www.generation-msx.nl/software/jltursan/caverns-of-titan/release/3692/ 1980´s Manic Miner clone, with slides like in Miner 2049´er and more China Miner by Interceptor Software, Ian Gray, 1984 https://www.lemon64.com/game/china-miner A China Miner Christmas by Arlasoft, 2023 https://www.lemon64.com/game/a-china-miner-christmas 1980´s Manic Miner clone Infernal Miner by Sprites, 1985 https://www.generation-msx.nl/software/sprites/infernal-miner/release/2925/ 1980´s Manic Miner clone, the same as Infernal Miner on MSX Devil's Gallery by Hebdogiciel, Yvon Halbwachs, 1986 https://www.lemon64.com/game/devils-gallery 1980´s Jet Set Willy clone Jetalf Strikes Back / Mr. Jetalf Strikes Back by ELS, 1985 https://www.generation-msx.nl/software/els/jetalf-strikes-back/release/2941/ There are some C64 games about to come to my mind...

Congratulations for the decade of JSW and MM! 🙂 And some feedback, too. 🙂 In the "Links" section, somebodies´ JSW related homepages are not working anymore. I am sorry, I remember just one, Visa Pimia, but there were others with the same problem, too. You can check all the links fast, though, by just clicking every link and see which ones won´t load. 🙂 I know your site is about the Spectrum version JSW and MM games, but could there be a new section, other systems´ versions of JSW and MM and especially their remakes and clones? I know there are other sites, but at least JSW Remakes is not listing the remakes, or was missing at least some, and was updated around 25 years ago anyway, and, at least in the past, other JSW and MM related sites did not list every remake and clone. That´s why I thought to ask, if you could add such new section there, covering at least 1980´s computers ? 🙂 There are at least some C64 and MSX remakes and 1980´s games what are not listed on JSW/MM related sites, your site could fill that gap. 🙂 If this suggestion makes your Spectrum soul to worry, just name that section as "Heretic games". 😆

I like the original BBC versions. 🙂
-
I don´t care about that game, but I think the name is great for another new JSW game. 🙂 Maybe we should "hijack" that name for a next project? 👍

Thank you very much, Mike! It was very interesting to read your info! 🙂 What´s the year of this Phoenixx Software´s advertisement?
-
Thank you. 🙂 I think the same about that they can be a pleasure to play. At least there will be a pleasure to look at some eye/effect candy. 🙂 I hope people will like those little add-ons, made possible with 128K memory. 🙂 I´m not sure how many will think they are still too hard, I have made them easier anyway and I will continue to bring some "easy touch" to existing rooms. When you practise enough, you will notice you can easily make a dash through the guardians, just please practise and memorize first where and how you can make it. 🙂 In many rooms there are alternative routes, if you don´t like to go certain way or think some platform is too hard to pass.

I thought to bring you a little notice how my two games are doing. 🙂 The current room development stages are "Diner" 65% finished and "Mansion" 72% finished. The needed little pieces of extra code is missing from both games. No new music is available, I haven´t done anything for it, as it feels stupid to make music as I don´t know how to add the tunes to my games. In "Mansion" game, I managed to get one buggy arrow room to work! 🙂 I mean the features/bugs of JSW or JSWED, I´m glad I managed to get around them and learned a bit more about arrows to make them do what they were not intended to do. 🙂 Let´s see, if somebody has made such an arrow room previously or not! 😉 I don´t know yet, how to connect certain rooms together, this applies for both games. I have some ideas, though. 🙂 The difficulty level for both games will be easier than in What a Wonderful World of Willie, but you will have to discover how to solve the rooms. 🙂 No "impossible" rooms are included, there are some little "traps", though. 🙂 If you can´t solve the room, you have somehow gone the wrong route and haven´t practised enough. 🙂 Both games will have easy and a bit harder rooms to play, something for everyone! 🙂

OK, thank you, Danny. 🙂 As they were available under bug-fixed editions topic, I thought they were mostly fixed already. I would have reported about such a bug anyway, no matter what version the game is, if the bug was not mentioned in the topic. 🙂
-
Don´t worry, it´s better to make the needed addings and fixes late, instead of never finishing what you want to add or fix. 🙂
-
I have played various Frosya games and liked their very nice graphics! 🙂 Here´s a feedback about a bug I have found. Uzor game starting from "Warehouse next to the dead pond" has a bug. When game starts, go up, left, down. The game ends to multiple deaths in "Green peace wasn´t here". Now, if you start a new game, the game will end to multiple deaths.

My game - What a Wonderful World of Willie
Jet Set Willie replied to Jet Set Willie's topic in Remakes
I have read JSWcentral text now. 🙂 Thank you very much, Danny! You have written it better than I could have done it. 🙂Also thank you for putting there the screenshots of my loader program! 👍If somebody should choose to load .TAP, the loader is not visible. I found one thing what needs to be changed a bit and couple ones to possible change them, or not. 🙂 It´s "To accommodate all players, an infinite lives option was also included at the start, allowing anyone to complete the game if they choose.". Only the .TZX file will bring the infinite lives option, as the .TAP just loads the game without the loader, without the loading screen and thus without the infinite lives question what is inside the loader program. So please mention that .TZX file is the one for "full game experience with loading screens and infinite lives option." 🙂 The .TAP is there if somebody wants to check my game in JSWED. 🙂 "(The game is not bed-completable, toilet-completable or Maria-completable, as it does not feature these elements. It is item-completable only and ends when the protagonist reaches the final screen.)" I don´t mind if you don´t change the above one, but... [I will put the rest under the spoiler alert to not spoil anyone´s playing experience] 🙂 I don´t remember if it´s mentioned in other JSW and MM games pages at JSWcentral, but I noticed that it was not mentioned that my game features new title and ingame musics, and new sound effects, too. I don´t mind, if you don´t mention that, 🙂 just thought to say this. 🙂 -
Jet Set Willy is a "Humoresque game" already, so it´s Ok. 🙂
-
I like your game and colours! 🙂 Especially title screen! It´s easy for me, but as you said, you did it for yourself, so I don´t mind. 🙂 It´s a nice feature that you made Willy to wear different coloured jacket and pants. 👍 I also noticed you included a certain Atari game there. 😉

UncleWan, I have just sent you a message with couple of files. 🙂
