From Spectrum Computing: Sorry quotes are a bit broken, incompatible parsing formats between here and there.
  2. I like that 🙂 Also an unexpected bonus , The Bank now can show all its items instead of it being (for reasons unknown, I'm not sure if Matt would recall if I did ask him) that only 3 items are shown, despite 5 being defined. To be fair one in the yellow water grid cell needs tweaking to make it collectable if it did appear there, so I guess maybe just maybe that was part of the reason. Not sure on 16th Cavern awol 5th item though (in original game)
  3. JSW has code built in to return to Basic however it does a soft-reset almost because the lower end of the memory is used by the game itself. MM would be similar, I've not checked if it can be implemented into it or not. In JSW (iirc) when you invoke this it effectively returns you to the copyright message but with the 'game core' intact. Its not terribly safe to change the cavern ID while playing, it lives at 33799 (for both the SP and BB version) , odd things can happen. You could change it during the 'end of cavern' code while the remaining air bonus is being added I guess or change it and immediately lose a life. I've not really experimented with this that much. Its easy to set a starting cavern permanently if required , is this what you need ? If memory serves, with the HighScoreChallenge game I altered the starting initialisation code around a bit allowing me to insert a cavern ID there, instead of it being assumed to be zero. Also you could NOP out the INC A instruction at 36918 (SP version) or 36907 (BB version) to keep playing the same cavern again after completion.
  4. A member of the Spectrum Computing forum reminded me (I was going to , it just slipped my mind) 🙂 If you had had any more news or progress on this please ? @Pixel Stonk

Thanks Danny. 🙂 In my defence here, the topic was created quite a few years ago now! 😮 😄 In my guilt, I should of updated it perhaps but your update IS hugely appreciated simply as just because its an old topic does not mean its not worth updating with your information, thank you for posting here as well as your own site update.
  6. I think they tend to 'find' things here, although they do have a forum for submissions, I put that 'MM Two Chance Challenge' in there as now they prefer a separate topic for each submission rather than the older "202x new software" which was getting a bit large to manage, understandable. It may be on their list but there's no harm in suggesting it. 🙂 And your 'fixed' files here too. That sounds like a good plan! 🙂 A random sidenote: The BBC version of this room is titled "Nomem Luni" (or similar) , an indication of the programmers attempts to get all the code into much less memory, Mode1 leaves not a lot on that machine free! That does remind me actually to see in your version Norman, if the fall from Under The Roof is fatal or not, due to the bug in the original game. I strongly suspect it is not present! For reference for anyone reading this, I'll quote part of Richard's (Skoolkid) notes as he has explained it quite well, minus the pokes and addresses which will not be valid in your version:
  7. Thanks Norman for the comprehensive reply. I'm aware (but find it slightly confusing) in how JSW2 stores its data, but space limitations I suspect meant it had to be done like that to "squeeze it all in" as it was ported over from the Amstrad 'original' JSW2. I've not looked at how you've stored your data in Manic JetSet Willy, figuring my reading of it would not really be up to par. Its still as said a great achievement to squash both games into one. You may or may not notice I did not ask if the border was still properly ( ? ) set to yellow to match the original JSW room, as its a bit of a pointless question. 🙂 Talking of actually squashing things...
  8. I have a random question. 🙂 I've not looked because its perhaps a bit silly and pointless but I'm curious. Does room #2F / 47 aka " [ " still exist in this code ?
  9. Wow 😮 A lot more changes than I thought! To be fair they are noticeable now you mention them. I guess I was looking for the 'obvious' ones. I'll contact Pavero over the next few days Norman, I'm almost sure he'll want to update the "map" to correctly reflect the changes.
  10. 1. "40" between the main title 2. The car windscreen 'A Pillar' missing pixel fixed (as you know this was 'fixed' in the Software Projects release of the original whereas the Bug Byte version has it missing) 3. Blank 'Final Barrier' cavern area fully populated with background 4. Fixed piano key layout of black keys 5. Bright cyan/red for indication a key is playing (something I tend to do anyway on some of my releases) 6. Full key indication in cyan/red vs one attribute block I get the feeling I've missed one something ? 🙂
  11. Pavero's excellent maps site has produced a "map" , well I guess caverns preview for this:
  12. Yes 😄 I suspect there are plenty more 😮 😉
  13. Pavero's excellent maps site has produced a screenshot "map" of each cavern of this wonderful game. "Spoilered" for those who do not wish to see it:

A few more 🙂 I'm not including (at this stage anyway) a large number of remakes: Credit to Pavel Pavero for the majority of these... Jet Set Basic Jet Set 40-40 Jet Set 12 Room Mini Game (As part of a Woot! release) Jet Set Mixup Jet Set Mini Jet Set Willy 25-100
  15. Thank you! 🙂 I did take a look at the SpeedRun site (on a mobile device) but could not see a way to view saved previous runs, as I was late viewing. It's quite possible it is me at fault here, I do not use mobile browsers a great deal. Ought to treat myself to a cheap tablet actually at some point... Anyway hopefully it may appear on YouTube ? Unless there's a link already. I did find "Digital Duck"'s SpeedRun from a while ago , 24th August 2021: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UI2JxWDODRE For convenience a video (reasonably HQ version, near 64mb uncompressed) attached, hopefully the author (D.D) will not mind 🙂 Its all promotion anyway! JSW speedrun (2015 bugfix) in 20_19.zip
  16. I'll have to download and watch that. 🙂 It was one of my earlier (read: not that skilled) attempts at squashing the majority of well known and some not well known bugs in the game.
  17. I was (and still am) in contact with the author of "Manic 4 Noobs" 🙂 Did try to build a custom loading scheme at one stage (screen mainly) but it did not really work out as intended.
  18. I do have a few very simple random ones about ready once I've tidied them up a bit, but they pale a bit compared to your offering above. 🙂
  19. As title. Hopefully the authors will not mind too much... Bathroom Tiles, JSW style: Miner Willy inside a PC:
  20. Quite a large update! Thank you.
  21. Thank you for this. If I recall this was at one stage on my "rebuild the Basic" list of tasks, but I see you've managed it. 🙂
  22. I'm sure we all appreciate the extra efforts you've gone to Danny to try to get this to work "both ways" 🙂
  23. One thought: Are you using an opened .rzx (ie not finalised) You could perhaps save it as a .sna or .z80 then reload in a different emulator and not restart recording, merely save the snap at the cavern before just before completion. That might effect it. I think unclosed .rzx's do save snapshots as that's how they work and they are removed upon finalising it...
  24. Different emulator maybe, I'm not sure if tis using 'FRAMES' to do anything. I'd suggest a different emulator if its practical to do this quickly though, unlikely but you never know! 🙂 I'm open to either terms. Problem you run into here is American 'English' vs British 'English' , 'torch' for instance has different meanings. Unsure on the majority of other countries that use this language as primary or secondary, fwiw one friend who uses English as a secondary language, her spelling is nearly always the American variant...
